Strengthening Seychelles legal framework to effectively address cyber threats and promote cybersecurity
On Tuesday, April 2nd, and Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, representatives from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), alongside key stakeholders, gathered at the Financial Crime Investigation Unit Auditorium for a two-day workshop led by experts from the Council of Europe.
The workshop focused on the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, an international treaty that promotes cooperation and shared standards in the fight against cybercrime. During the sessions, participants took a close look at Seychelles' current cybercrime legislation to assess how well it aligns with the principles and requirements of the Convention.
This collaborative review marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s legal framework and ensuring it meets international standards. By aligning with the Budapest Convention, Seychelles is reinforcing its commitment to cybersecurity and enhancing its ability to respond effectively to evolving cyber threats.
